Roberta di Camerino, the colour revolution
Trieste-Exhibition at the revoltella museum, 8 october 2010 - 12 december 2010
The city of Trieste pays tribute to the Signora of fashion who passed away only a few months ago with an exhibition dedicated entirely to her creations and to the history of the famous Brand.
In a rapid succession of colours, thirty of her famous panel dresses will play lead role along with over fifty historical bags, from the first known 1955 Bagonghi bag to more special models made during the firm history.
Dalì wrote that she was the only woman to convey art into fashion, hence the idea of combining the well-known stylist's creations with works of modern art in one of the Italian museums boasting works by international artists and which has already organised exhibitions dedicated to fashion and fashion designers such as Mila Schön, the Fontana Sisters and Renato Balestra.
With bright and skilfully matched colours and her non-conformist nature, Giuliana Coen has dared with graphics and colours in the years of post-war black, revolutionising the female accessory concept.
Her bags, worn by Grace Kelly and Madonna, have made style history, leaving a major heritage to the Made in Italy.
The exhibition will be intentionally inaugurated just a few days after the famous Barcolana boat race, because it was from the sea and her boat that the Signora of elegance often liked to create, observing that stretch of sea which, from Venice to Istria, accompanied her to the end.
