Roberta di Camerino AW 2011-2012

The celebration of an icon.

For the 2011-12 Autumn- Winter season, the Maison reworks graphic designs, colors and iconic models that have made Roberta Di Camerino’s style and world unforgettable.
The season’s innovation is the total look.
Four representative dresses repurpose the famous panels: Smocking, Rive Gauche, College and Sivigliana. Born off Madame Giuliana Cohen Camerino’s genius, who made them in anti-crease jersey, these dresses combine the functionality and simplicity of the shapes and volumes with the richness in detail given by tromp l'oeil design of jackets, shirts, skirts, trousers, drapery, buttons and creative details, panel-printed in heavy silk interlock.
The accessory collection unfolds in a “Heritage” section in glossy, brushed black calfskin, employed by Madame Giuliana to create elegant and precious jewel boxes with deep yellow gold metal parts, thus enhancing and personalizing the Maison’s strong character.
Velvets, which have given fame and celebrity to the brand, have been dedicated decisive and ample space. The graphic designs of “Cinture bajadera”, of the elegant “Cleopatra” and of the “Tartaruga” effect, which confers movement to the solid color tones, are repurposed.
Colour has a crucial role in the collection’s concept.
Colour combinations evoke the history of the Maison: “La Venezia”, in green, prune and turquoise, as a homage to the lagoon’s colors; “College” in blue, red and off-white, a homage to Madame Cohen’s love for the US, her second home; “black, dark chocolate and beige”, her historical alternate version; and finally, “cherry, green and blue”, RDC’s chromatic icon.
Trompe l'oeil graphic designs confer a strong mark: the traditional and continuing “Shopping” print on heavy cotton canvas; the “Cleopatra” design taken from velvet, used on cotton satin and doubled with transparent polished pvc, evoke autumn rainy days.
Lastly, seven graphic designs that have ridden Roberta Di Camerino’s history: “I Magnifici Sette” printed on cotton-based flock, reminiscent of a velvet-like effect, featured on bags, practical shoulder bags and fun clutch bags in three dimensions.
Three models drawn from the historic archive, in two velvets obtained with ancient hand looms and woven with silk threads that bring out a light and softness from the past, complete the collection: “Bajadera Vecchia” and “Tartaruga a Righe” with contrasting color bands, enriched by precious metal parts and yellow gold chains.
